In fact this fern also occurs in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. There is an enormous population growing on the sperpentine soils of the Ingalls Ophiolite Complex and I would imagine a robust population on the Twin Sisters Ophiolite near Mt Baker as well,
So, not “endemic” to California

You are totally correct. I forgot about those disjunct populations outside its main range that are common with serpentine restricted species. I will update the note to reflect this. Thank you for this keen observation.
