Wow, nice collection! Is this a new record for Colombia?
New record for Colombia, as far as I can tell. In Mesoamerica, this species is restricted to the Pacific Coast. Interestingly, a lot of species that are restricted to one coast or the other “flip” in the Darien, presumably because the mountains that confine them are gone and the peninsula becomes so narrowed that dispersal from one coast to the other becomes possible. Great post.
If the collection of Wolda in 1972 in Malpelo Island in Valle del Cauca is not P. dealbata, this collection would be the first record for Colombia. Recently I collected again this species in Cabo Corrientes, pacific coast of the Chocó. The plants collected are always growing in rocky cliffs waterfront and, in the case of the Chocó collection, plant were stoloniferous, forming a colony of a meter group of plants.
The Malpelo Island plant is not P. dealbata. I also have only seen P. dealbata growing among rocks very close to the sea (in Costa Rica and Nicaragua). You should write up these collections as a shorter note for the American Fern Journal, to document the new record for South America.
