    This seems closer to Dennstaedtia producta than to our Ecuadorian D matthewsii ??

    Thanks for weighing in Benjamin. I appreciate your expertise on these plants. I can see why you say D. producta is a better match, but I am not entirely sure. The sori are not as long-stalked as those in D. producta, and I only see a single proliferous bud on the petiole. However, this collection may be a young leaf as you point out in your treatment in Nord. J. Bot. Do you know of indument characters that can help distinguish them?
