Danaea wendlandii

Danaea wendlandii is common at La Selva Biological station, but only where the Collared Peccaries can’t get it. Researchers familiar with the station report that the species was previously widespread but now persists only on tip-up mounds and steep slopes that deter Collared Peccaries from grazing on the fleshy rhizomes.
