Phlegmariurus filiformis (Sw.) W.H.Wagner from Mt Carbine-Mt Lewis Tableland north east Queensland, Australia. Phlegmariurus filiformis is considered endangered in Australia and usually only occurs on high mountain peaks and in the uppermost branches of trees. This plant was unusual being at about 880 m and only being about 20 m up the tree making for an easier climb! It formed a carpet all along the trunk of the tree. This species was named from Hawaii and it occurs on high peaks throughout Oceania, although it is sometimes recognised under other names.
