This beautiful species belongs to Elaphoglossum sect. Lepidoglossa. It is characterized by having abundant laminar scales, these lanceolate, silvery, setose-margined, overlapping, and usually completely covering the abaxial side of sterile leaves. It occurs in the Guianas, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil.
