These images were taken in the mountains of Santa Catarina but there is also a similar species that is common in coastal forests of this region.

    It is possibly Blechnum schomburgkii (Klotzsch) C. Chr., common found at the high altitude grasslands in southeastern Brazil. It has pale (castaneous) scales at the basal petiole. In B. brasiliensis they are darker (blackish).
