This species was recently published by Colombian botanists Jose Murillo and Luz-Amparo Triana-Moreno. It can be diagnosed by the impressed veins and 2.5 mm long dark hairs on the lower rachis.

On seepy wet cliff face. Sterile leaves arching, fertile leaves erect. Leaf texture rigid, veins impressed.
