Diplazium ×torresianum is a hybrid with parentage inferred between D. cristatum and D. ternatum. It was described from this collection in the publication Testo, W.L., Sundue, M. and Vasco, A., 2017. Diplazium hybrids involving D. plantaginifolium and D. ternatum from Mexico and Central America. Brittonia69, pp.295-306. The name honors botanist Rafael Torres Colin of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México UNAM, Department of Botany.
