In January we botanized Cerro de la Muerte where Dave Barrington explained to me, “The Costa Rican populations, like the Guatemalan and many from the North Andes, are apparently an undescribed tetraploid taxon distinct from Polystichum orbiculatum, which is a northern and central Andean species based on a specimen from an undefined location in South America  in the Desvaux Herbarium (P).”
