Selaginella corrugis was known only from the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca, Mexico until Ivan Valdespino found a population in Cocle, Panama. As he explained, “this apparent disjunction is probably best explained as an artifact due to lack of critical collecting of Selaginella in Central America rather than to geographic barriers.”  It will be interesting to see how additional collections will better inform the habitat niche of this species.
