I was lucky to find a population of this narrow endemic species while doing field work in Pico das Almas. Phlegmariurus mooreanus is known only from a few localities of “campo rupestre” vegetation in the State of Bahia, Brazil. It has a very distinctive appearance and can be recognized by its thick, stiffly erect stems, which are densely covered by rigid,  uniformly recurved leaves.
